Kotowa Machida

Kotowa Machida was born in Tokyo. After her educational development in her hometown, her studies as scholarshipholder of the DAAD took her to Frankfurt/Main, Germany and there to Edith Peinemann. She completed numerous mastercourses under for example Wolfgang Marschner and Rainer Kussmaul, former principal concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic. 1992 she distinguished herself to receive the Brahms prize by the Brahms Association, Baden-Baden, Germany.

Assigned as first concertmaster with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Reutlingen, in the state of Württemberg Germany, Kotowa Machida became principal violinist with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1997.
Kotowa Machida performs in different chamber music ensembles of the Berlin Philharmonics. She played with the Berlin Baroque Soloists, the Philharmonic Stringoctet as well as with the Ensemble Berlin amongst others.
